The Dallas neighborhoods closest to the new Uptown offices are Uptown itself, Victory Park, Turtle Creek, Oak Lawn, the Design District, Highland Park and University Park. For Las Colinas, the closest residential options are Las Colinas itself, Valley Ranch, Irving's Cottonwood Valley area, Coppell, and in Dallas, Bluffview and Preston Hollow for executives willing to drive 15 to 25 minutes. The largest new office project in Uptown is Goldman Sachs' campus between the American Airlines Center and the Perot Museum: about 800,000 square feet with room for more than 5,000 workers, according to developer Hillwood, with employees expected to move in around 2028.

At The Agency Dallas, our Relocation division helps employees and executives choose neighborhoods around where they will work. This guide maps the main options for both office districts.

Which neighborhoods are closest to the Uptown office district?

Uptown's new towers sit at the north edge of downtown, near Victory Park and the Woodall Rodgers corridor. Neighborhoods within a short drive or walk:

  • Uptown and Victory Park. High-rise condos, townhomes and apartments, walkable to offices, restaurants and the Katy Trail.
  • Turtle Creek. Established luxury high-rises and older mid-rises along a wooded parkway.
  • Oak Lawn and the Design District. Townhomes, newer mid-rises and some single-family homes a few minutes west.
  • Highland Park and University Park. Single-family homes in the Highland Park Independent School District, roughly 10 to 15 minutes north depending on traffic.
  • Lakewood and the M Streets. East Dallas single-family neighborhoods about 15 minutes away.

For buyers weighing a condo near the office, our guide to comparing Dallas luxury high-rise condos is a good starting point.

Which neighborhoods are closest to Las Colinas?

Las Colinas, in Irving, is a long-established office hub between Dallas and DFW Airport. Common choices for people working there:

  1. Las Colinas. Townhomes, condos and single-family homes, some gated, around Lake Carolyn and the golf courses.
  2. Valley Ranch and Coppell. Single-family suburbs a short drive north, popular with families.
  3. Bluffview and Preston Hollow. Larger lots and estate homes in Dallas, typically a 15 to 25 minute drive east via Northwest Highway or Highway 114.
  4. Southlake and Westlake. Luxury suburbs northwest, a reasonable commute for those who also travel through DFW Airport.

See Southlake or Westlake for relocating professionals and Bluffview for more on those options.

How should I choose between living close to the office and living farther out?

Commute time is only one factor. Most relocating buyers weigh:

  • Schools. Highland Park ISD, Carroll ISD in Southlake, Coppell ISD and nearby private schools often decide the search for families.
  • Home type. Condos and townhomes dominate near Uptown; yards and larger lots require a longer drive.
  • Office schedule. Hybrid schedules make a longer commute easier two or three days a week.
  • Airport access. Frequent travelers often prefer Las Colinas, Southlake or Westlake for quick DFW Airport trips.
  • Property taxes. Rates differ by city and school district, so compare total monthly cost, not just price.

Our article on choosing a DFW neighborhood based on where you will work walks through this in more depth.

When should I start looking if my office opens in 2027 or 2028?

Earlier than most people expect. Inventory in close-in neighborhoods like Highland Park, University Park and Turtle Creek is limited, and the best homes often sell quickly. A practical plan:

  1. Six to twelve months out: narrow the list of neighborhoods and school options.
  2. Three to six months out: tour in person and arrange financing.
  3. One to three months out: make offers, or rent short-term if timing does not line up.

What does each option cost to live in?

Prices vary widely across these neighborhoods, so it helps to compare by home type rather than by area alone:

  • High-rise and mid-rise condos. The most common option within walking distance of the Uptown offices. Monthly HOA dues and parking are part of the cost, so compare total monthly payments, not list price alone.
  • Townhomes. Common in Uptown, Oak Lawn and Las Colinas. They offer more space than many condos with less yard maintenance than a house.
  • Single-family homes in central Dallas. Highland Park, University Park, Preston Hollow and Bluffview carry some of the highest land values in the region, which is reflected in price.
  • Single-family homes in the suburbs. Coppell, Valley Ranch, Southlake and Westlake trade a longer commute for larger homes, newer construction or strong public school districts.

Property taxes also differ by city and school district. Our article on what $1 million buys in Dallas versus the suburbs shows how far a budget goes in different parts of the metro. A relocation agent can build a side-by-side comparison of monthly costs for the neighborhoods on your short list.

Frequently asked questions

Which Dallas neighborhoods are closest to the new Uptown offices?

Uptown, Victory Park, Turtle Creek, Oak Lawn and the Design District are the closest, with condos, townhomes and some single-family homes. Highland Park and University Park are about 10 to 15 minutes north and offer single-family homes in the Highland Park Independent School District.

Where do people who work in Las Colinas usually live?

Many live in Las Colinas itself, Valley Ranch or Coppell for short commutes. Executives wanting larger lots often choose Bluffview or Preston Hollow in Dallas, while frequent travelers consider Southlake and Westlake for easy access to DFW Airport.

When will the Goldman Sachs Uptown campus open?

According to developer Hillwood, the exterior was expected to be complete by the end of 2026, with employees moving in around 2028 after interior build-out. The campus is about 800,000 square feet with room for more than 5,000 workers.

Is it better to buy a condo or a house near Uptown?

It depends on lifestyle and plans. Condos offer walkability, security and less maintenance near the office. Single-family homes with yards are available in nearby Highland Park, University Park and East Dallas, but they mean a short drive and a higher price for the land.
